Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The General Secretary of Mozambique\u2019s ruling Frelimo Party, Roque Silva, has urged all the Party\u2019s members to adjust the performance of Frelimo to the dynamics and social transformations taking place in the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a meeting in the southern city of Matola, where he addressed the leaderships of Frelimo training bodies, Silva described Mozambican society as \u201cdynamic\u201d, and this factor demanded constant internal transformation of the Party so that it can meet the challenges posed by the transformations in society.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot look at the transformations inside the Party as a closed phenomenon\u201d, he said. \u201cWe have to understand that we are operating within a dynamic society and internal transformations should be guided by the transformations that occur within society\u201d.<\/p>\n

Silva stressed that it is not society which should adjust to what the Party needs. Rather, it is Frelimo which should know how to adjust to what society imposes. He considered the Party\u2019s own training institutions as vitally important in such adjustments, particularly in the run-up to the coming elections (municipal elections in 2023, and general elections in 2024).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe overall efforts of our Party seek to create the conditions for victory in the coming elections\u201d, he declared.<\/p>\n

He stressed that in recent years the country has faced challenges that demanded a daring response from the government led by President Filipe Nyusi, expressed in balanced and sustainable solutions to adverse phenomena.<\/p>\n

Two recent gains for the country, he added, were the election of Mozambique as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2023-2024 period, and the attainment of gender parity in the composition of the government. Mozambique is the 14th country in the world, and the third in Africa, to achieve this gender parity.<\/p>\n
