Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Six special service counters for miners will open at the Ressano Garcia border crossing in Maputo province over the festive season, the National Migration Service (SENAMI) has announced.<\/p>\n

According to SENAMI spokesman Juca Bata, the measure aims to avoid congestion and long waiting periods. Three desks will serve for entry into the country and three for exit.<\/p>\n

Some 30,000 miners are expected to return to Mozambique from neighbouring South Africa in the coming days.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe extended facilities will remain in operation until the 12th of January, the date on which the \u2018Tsakane\u2019 joint operation, launched last week to cover the Christmas and New Year festivities, ends,\u201d Juca Bata said.<\/p>\n

The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), one of the Tsakane participants, recently announced a reduction in the number of mobile checkpoints, better known as \u201croving roadblocks \u201d.<\/p>\n

The idea is to reduce the time taken to clear goods while still observing good practice with respect to customer service, and without jeopardising public order and safety.<\/p>\n
