Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s National Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (INTIC), in partnership with the Tax Authority (AT), announced on Thursday that it is developing strategies in order to improve the functioning of the e-taxation system to increase the collection of revenue for the Mozambican state.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Maputo, in a brief contact with the press, on the sidelines of a meeting of the Consultative Council of his institution, the executive director of INTIC, Lui\u0301s Canhemba, said that, with the efficient implementation of the E-taxation system, the government hopes to reduce the level of tax evasion and thus substantially contribute to increasing the State\u2019s ability to make new investments.<\/p>\n

Canhemba added it is also expected to improve and simplify taxpayer management processes through the flexible assignment of the Unique Tax Identification Number (NUIT) and internal tax management.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now we are working with the AT to find the best way to capture revenue. As a technology regulator, we feel it is important that the state is able to capture more revenue through electronic transactions\u201d, Canhemba said.<\/p>\n

Regarding the improvement of digital certification, in order to reduce patent forgery and provide greater security for users, Canhemba explained that although the process is under way, the authorities are awaiting for the equipment to implement the process.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now we are working on the implementation process. We recently hired a company that will provide the necessary equipment; I believe that by the next quarter we will already be in the actual implementation process. This is one of those processes that will help in the control of digital counterfeiting\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
