Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>A 38-year-old Mozambican man is under police guard at a hospital in South Africa after sustaining injuries while trying to escape from police custody.<\/p>\n

He was initially arrested in possession of seven computers stolen from a primary school near the border with Mozambique, a source from the South African Police Service (SAPS) told Lusa today.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is an undocumented Mozambican citizen, who will go to court as soon as he leaves the hospital,\u201d Nelspruit (Mbombela).SAPS spokesman Selvy Mohlala said.<\/p>\n

According to the SAPS spokesperson, the man \u201cwas arrested with seven government computers\u201d, stolen from a primary school located about 23 kilometres from Nelspruit, close to the border with Mozambique.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspect allegedly tried to escape from lawful custody, resulting in him sustaining injuries, hence he is under police guard in hospital,\u201d Mohlala explained The SAPS media statement on the matter reads as follows. 2023\/01\/06 \u2013 South African Police Service \u2013 Office of the Provincial Commissioner Mpumalanga<\/p>\n

A 38-year-old suspect is under police guard in hospital after he was bust with seven government computers stolen from Yedwa Primary School at Msogwaba, Pienaar, outside Nelspruit.<\/p>\n

A business robbery case was registered with Pienaar SAPS this month. A dedicated team of investigators was assembled which worked closely with other security clusters.<\/p>\n

The team managed to track down the alleged suspect at a house at Moyeni, Msogwaba, where seven computers and a speaker allegedly stolen during the burglary were found and a grinder believed to have been used during the commission of crime was found.<\/p>\n

The suspect allegedly tried to escape from lawful custody resulting in him sustaining injuries hence he is under police guard in hospital. The suspect will appear in court soon.<\/p>\n

The Provincial Management appreciated the team for the recovery and sent a strong warning that all those who aim at jeopardising the future of school children will be dealt with accordingly.<\/p>\n
