Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Transport and Communications has banned the company\u2019 Sekelane Grup0\u2032 from offering passenger transport services, with effect from today.<\/p>\n

The measure comes after it was found that the company\u2019s buses are not in a proper technical condition to provide a \u201csafe and decent interprovincial transport service\u201d, according to a Ministry press release.<\/p>\n

The document details that the carrier was caught, at the Junta Terminal on December 23, 2022, demonstrating \u201cirresponsibility, lack of commitment and respect for passengers, having gone to the extreme of selling tickets for a Maputo-Nampula trip which failed to take place due to the lack of a bus in mechanical conditions to provide this service\u201d.<\/p>\n

The suspension will last until the correction of the technical deficiencies of the company\u2019s fleet, and subsequent approval following technical inspection by the Ministry\u2019s National Directorate of Transport and Security.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Transport and Communications note reiterates the call for compliance with traffic rules and with the terms and conditions of the license for public passenger transport activity, including compliance with vehicle capacity, driver\u2019s rest periods and driver qualifications.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor offenders, we will continue to apply bolder measures with a view to protecting the lives of the passengers and of the other road users,\u201d the document concludes.<\/p>\n

It will be remembered that, on the 19th of December last year, the authorities suspended the company Transportes Ideal, due to the \u2018deplorable mechanical conditions\u2019 of one of its buses.<\/p>\n
