Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>After working on Wednesday (11-01) in the districts of Nangade, Mocimboa da Praia, Macomia and Quissanga, Governor of Cabo Delgado Valige Tauabo on Thursday proceeded to Ibo district, continuing his visits to the northern and central districts of the province. In Matemo locality, Governor Tauabo was welcomed by a large crowd of island residents.<\/p>\n

In the district of Ibo and in Matemo in particular, the Governor\u2019s message was one of comfort, encouragement and hope for better days to come, with the establishment by the Defence and Security Forces of stability in the province.<\/p>\n

To the youth of the island and of the entire province, the head of the Provincial Executive Council reiterated his appeal against monetary enticement into the ranks of terrorists.<\/p>\n

To exit food dependency and guarantee the livelihood of the families, Governor Tauabo urged the Matemo islanders to persist in their preparation and sowing of cultivated areas (machambas).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in the rainy season, when we produce the food we consume, so it is important to remain engaged in preparing the fields and sowing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In order to safeguard the conservation of marine species, Valige Tauabo appealed to the island\u2019s fishermen to assiduously observe the seasonal prohibition on the capture of crab, shrimp and other shellfish.<\/p>\n

Matemo has a population of 5,175 people, including natives and incomers displaced from Mocimboa Praia, Quissanga and Macomia.<\/p>\n
