Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Some Mozambican carriers offering services between Maputo and Durban in South Africa cancelled departures on Sunday following reports of attacks and robberies in South Africa.<\/p>\n

Jonas Fumo, a member of the Transporter\u2019s Commission at the Junta bus terminal, said that drivers \u201cwith [Mozambican] registration plates are afraid to travel to South Africa using the Ponta do Ouro border\u201d, according to an AIM report.<\/p>\n

Juliana Mwuitu, administrator of Matutui\u0301ne district, which borders South Africa, said that vehicles were set on fire on Saturday, 90 kilometres from the border, in an action related to local conflicts with Mozambicans.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were no injuries, and passengers were assisted by the South African authorities and escorted back to Mozambique,\u201d she is quoted as saying..<\/p>\n

A driver and witness to one of the robberies on Saturday who managed to escape unharmed told AIM that the passengers were disembarked when the vehicle was set on fire.<\/p>\n
