Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s national electricity utility Electricidade de Moc\u0327ambique (EDM) is negotiating with multinational Mozal with a view to finding internal solutions for the supply of electricity to the aluminium smelter in the coming years, Noti\u0301cias reports today.<\/p>\n

The fact was advanced by EDM chairman Marcelino Gildo.<\/p>\n

The current power supply contract between Mozal and South African electricity supplier Eskom expires in 2026, and it is in light of this that the aluminium smelter is looking for alternative electricity supplies.<\/p>\n

Gildo acknowledged that Mozal was looking for alternative sources of electricity post 2026, but explained that talks between the two parties were still at an early stage.<\/p>\n
