Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mattioli Coffee Company, project executor of Cafe\u0301 Vumba and Cafe\u0301 de Manica, follows through with its smallholder integration program to include a further 800 members by April of 2023.<\/p>\n

The past week, Mozambican companies operating in the coffee sector under MCC Mattioli Coffee Company SA \u2013 Cafe\u0301 Vumba and Cafe\u0301 de Manica based in the Manica Province, have taken action to publicly announce the progress in implementing their respective smallholder integration programs.<\/p>\n

Nationally recognized for their efforts in creating an economy around coffee culture in Mozambique, both projects have accomplished to collaborate with over 850 locals to date, in order to develop a promising future, specifically women, and their families, who are deprived from financial stability, food security and equal human rights.<\/p>\n

\u201cCafe\u0301 Vumba and Cafe\u0301 de Manica are considered to possess Mozambique\u2019s largest coffee production facilities and most seedlings produced in 2022, closing the year off with over 1.8 million seedlings between both projects.\u201d says Riana Lopez, Chairperson of MCC\u2019s Member Board. According to the operator, these seedlings will be distributed to an estimate of 800 smallholder farmers who have already signed petitions to participate in the 2023 distribution campaign.<\/p>\n

The operator\u2019s coffee sustainability strategy takes an integrated approach built on four complementary pillars \u2013 responsible sourcing, farmer support through a stronger coffee initiative, sustainable operations and partnerships with local small and medium sized companies.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a leading national producer and merchant of green coffee, MCC is well-positioned and equipped to help coffee farmers in addressing the challenges they face to make their production more sustainable and profitable,\u201d further adds Jenaro Ribeiro, a Board Member of MCC.<\/p>\n
