Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The number of people affected by t floods in Maputo city and province \u201crose to 30,000, which corresponds to 5,721 families,\u201d the National Institute for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction (INGD) announced in an update published this Saturday (11-02),\u201dAt the moment, 4,286 houses are flooded, 13 schools are affected, among other damages,\u201d it adds.<\/p>\n

According to the same source, \u201cthe NGD has opened two more accommodation centres, bringing the total to five,\u201d in view of the increase in the number of people affected .<\/p>\n

So far, adds the INGD communique, search and rescue operations have enabled the rescue of 14,000 people, who were sent to the Accommodation Centres, where multisectoral teams are in place, at work to create conditions to give the victims a minimum of dignity.<\/p>\n

The multisectoral teams have elements from health, for health care, and from Electicidade de Moc\u0327ambique (EDM), for the provision of electricity.<\/p>\n

Search and rescue operations continue, especially in the most affected areas, such as the district of Boane.<\/p>\n

As of today, February 11, INGD will have five more boats, the chairperson of INGD Lui\u0301sa Celma Meque announced, the comunique concludes.<\/p>\n
