Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Administrative Tribunal (TA) of Mozambique has asked the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR) to investigate allegations of manipulation of audits and misuse of public funds, a note from the institution seen by Lusa on Tuesday reads.<\/p>\n

The TA says it has already launched an inquiry into allegations raised against the body in an anonymous letter published on social networks and by some media.<\/p>\n

\u201cAware of the seriousness of the matter in the said letter, which tarnishes the image of the institution and calls into question the efforts it has been carrying out, the Tribunal is working with a view to ascertaining the veracity of the information contained therein for subsequent corrective actions, if they are confirmed,\u201d the text reads.<\/p>\n

The TA reiterates its commitment to \u201cadministrative, fiscal and customs justice, as well as the exercise of good management in the use of public funds\u201d, and will continue to be guided by transparency, openness, proximity and accountability in its work, the note asserts.<\/p>\n

The note is signed by the President of the Administrative Court, Lu\u0301cia Maximiano do Amaral, but does not detail the nature of the offenses covered by the inquiry and being investigated by the PGR.<\/p>\n

According to the International Association of Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions (IASAJ) Mozambique\u2019s Administrative Tribunal \u201cis the highest Court in administrative matters, \u201cruling in, namely: \u201cactions against administrative acts or against the organs or agents of a public authority whose activities are the cause of a damage; actions against an individual or concessionaire in order to make prevail the rules of the administrative law; actions in matters of taxes and customs; appeal against the rulings of the Audit Office\u201d.<\/p>\n
