Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>President of the Assembly of the Republic Esperanc\u0327a Bias has urged women parliamentarians from all over the world to strive for cohesion and leadership in the search for sustainable solutions to the challenges confronting women.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Forum of Women Parliamentarians on the side-lines of the 146th Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU) in Bahrain, Bias observed that worsening political-military tensions, extreme weather events and the food and energy crises affected women in particular.<\/p>\n

The Women\u2019s Parliamentarians Forum took place under the motto: Women\u2019s Leadership in the Face of Insecurity and Crises \u2013 Putting Gender Equality, Safety, Climate Resilience and Sustainable Peace First.<\/p>\n

\u2018As parliamentarians,\u201d she said, \u201cwe need to outline holistic solutions that allow us to design national policies to combat impunity and the violation of human rights, promote social justice and gender equity and respect for the dignity of women.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president of the Mozambican parliament in her contribution told participants that Mozambique\u2019s Assembly of the Republic had passed laws concerning family matters, including those addressing gender-based violence and premature marriage.<\/p>\n

The Assembly General of the IPU, which ends today (15-03), takes place under the motto \u201cFighting Intolerance, Promoting Peace, Coexistence and Inclusive Societies\u201d.<\/p>\n

Led by Esperanc\u0327a Bias, the Mozambican delegation inckuded Eduardo Mule\u0301mbwe\u0302, Lucinda Malema, Gania Mussagy and senior staff of the General Secretariat of the Assembly of the Republic.<\/p>\n
