Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Tunduru Botanical Gardens has been in the dark and without water supply for about four months since an explosion at the power transformation station which serves it, Miramar reports.<\/p>\n

The plants are withered, and the lack of water in the gardens in Maputo is ruining the aesthetics of the space, deterring visitors.<\/p>\n

The problem has still not been solved since the explosion at the transformer in January of this year, even though funds have already been disbursed for its replacement.<\/p>\n

Miramar has learned from reliable sources that the funds were timeously channeled to Maputo city council coffers, but for some reason, there has still been no approval from the finance department.<\/p>\n

Users of the botanical gardens are demanding improved management of the green space and enhanced security.<\/p>\n

The botanical garden, in downtown Maputo, was designed in 1885 by British landscape architect Thomas Honney, who also designed gardens for the King of Greece and the Sultan of Turkey.<\/p>\n
