Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>A technical assistance mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) arrived in Maputo on Monday for a two-week visit, Mozambique\u2019s Ministry of Economy and Finance has announced.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the mission is to \u201ccarry out the second monitoring of the Government\u2019s program with the IMF\u201d under which the Fund approved, in 2022, a US$470 million financing package running through to 2025.<\/p>\n

The IMF\u2019s delegation will \u201canalyse the latest macroeconomic developments for the year 2022 and the prospects for the medium term\u201d, the Ministry of Finance statement reads.<\/p>\n

At the opening meeting of the IMF technical assistance mission visit, \u201cthe Minister of Economy and Finance, Max Tonela, and the Governor of the Bank of Mozambique, Roge\u0301rio Zandamela, underlined that Mozambique has made further progress in the main macroeconomic indicators, stressing that economic growth should accelerate in the medium term, with average growth of 5.7% between 2022 and 2024\u201d.<\/p>\n

The head of the IMF mission, Pablo Lopez Murphy, quoted in the same statement, said that the two weeks\u2019 work \u201cwill cover different areas, with emphasis on the monetary and financial sector, external sector (balance of payments and external debt), fiscal sector , planning, and financing for investment and governance\u201d.<\/p>\n
