Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Mozambican Nurses Association (OEM) on Friday sent a letter to the Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, threatening to go on strike.<\/p>\n

According to the letter, published on International Nurses Day, the association is requesting intervention by the Prime Minister to overcome the impasses between the nurses and the Mozambican Health Ministry.<\/p>\n

The concerns in question are related to improvements in working conditions and other rights, because \u201cwithin the difficult situations that the country is going through, nurses are seen as professionals in the front line, but when it comes to rights they are placed at the back\u201d, reads the letter, taking as an example the period of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have broken your protocol in the interest of enforcing social dialogue regarding the concerns already submitted in the Ministry of Health\u201d, the association said. \u201cWe are turning to the Prime Minister to discuss the lack of the spirit of good faith by leaders who ignore dialogue\u201d.<\/p>\n

The nurses warn that, if their problems are not solved, they will begin a 25-day work stoppage, as from 1 June, in all health units throughout the country.<\/p>\n
