Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Norwegian government has pledged to support Mozambique in developing a regulatory framework, including strategies and training, in the mineral resources and energy sectors.<\/p>\n

To this end, Mozambique\u2019s Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Zacarias, and Norway\u2019s Minister of International Cooperation, Anne Beathe Tvinnereim, signed a cooperation agreement.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the signing on Wednesday (24-05), Minister Zacarias explained that the Mozambican government would implement Phase II of the bilateral cooperation programme for the period 2023 to 2026, which will focus on improving the legal framework, governance of the energy sector, and technical skills.<\/p>\n

Quoted by AIM, Zacarias added that the agreement \u201cwill allow us to improve our management capacities, recognizing the role of energy as an instrument of long-term economic development\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to bring energy to all administrative posts by the year 2024, and universal access by the year 2030,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The agreement, he continued, would help the energy sector coordinate electrification inside and outside the network, ensuring a rational definition of priorities for the achievement of the objectives outlined.<\/p>\n

In turn, Norway\u2019s Minister Tvinnereim said that in Phase II, Norway would help develop a regulatory framework, as well as assisting the Mozambican government in the development of sustainability strategies.<\/p>\n
