Maputo, Aug. 6, 2021 (Lusa) \u2013 The Mozambican police announced on Friday it had detained 15 citizens of Malawi for illegal immigration and presenting false documents in the central province of Sofala.<\/p>\n

The 15 Malawians, including two minors, were arrested on 29 July, after being found on a bus in Gorongosa district, during police checks in the province.<\/p>\n

The group presented false documents to the authorities, Mangazi Singano, spokesman for the Migration Service (Senami) in Sofala, told private television station STV.<\/p>\n

According to authorities, the group was sentenced to one month in prison, converted into community services.<\/p>\n

\u201c[The sentence is to be] served in the country of origin, in Malawi. The Sofala migration directorate has organised their repatriation,\u201d the Senami spokesman added.<\/p>\n
