Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>This Tuesday morning (6), the Banco de Moc\u0327ambique presented the Economic Outlook and Inflation Forecasts Report (CEPI)<\/b> to the academic community at the Catholic University of Mozambique \u2013 Quelimane Branch, and the students were quite engaged in the session. The institution was represented by the Deputy Pedagogical Director of the Social Sciences and Policies Faculty, Gaude\u0302ncia Alves and managers from other university bodies.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the Banco de Moc\u0327ambique stood Advisor Umaia Mahomed, which placed disclosing the monetary policy decisions at the session\u2019s backdrop, alongside Director Pinho Ribeiro, who presented the Report, the branch\u2019s substitute director, Lucre\u0301cia Manhonha, the Assistant Technician of the Communications Office (GCI) and Economic Research Department and Quelimane branch (FIQ) technicians.<\/p>\n

For his part, Pinho Ribeiro explained that the monetary policy decisions taken by the Banco de Moc\u0327ambique follow from the assessment of the domestic and international landscape, and mainly aim to promote price stability, and the Interbank Money Market Rate (MIMO) is its main instrument to achieve this goal.<\/p>\n

Following a detailed explanation of the monetary policy transmission method and domestic and international drivers assessed by the Monetary Policy Committee, in its session on March 29 this year, Ribeiro made known the decisions taken by the body and publicly announced on the same date.<\/p>\n

In the lively discussion session that followed the presentation, the students asked several questions, highlighting the mechanism for fixing the MIMO rate and its impact on the economy and the citizen, the coordination between monetary and fiscal policies and structural issues relating to the role of the Banco de Moc\u0327ambique in promoting the agricultural sector and reducing the country\u2019s external dependence.<\/p>\n

At the end of the session, Alves thanked the Banco de Moc\u0327ambique for the initiative, calling the event an important experience for the academic community.<\/p>\n

Next Friday (9), the Banco de Moc\u0327ambique will present the CEPI report at the Universidade de Pu\u0301ngue\u0300, in Chimoio.<\/p>\n
