Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>President of Mozambique and Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Filipe Nyusi, on Sunday welcomed his Botswana counterpart, Mokgweetsi Masisi, chairperson for cooperation in the areas of defence and safety of the SADC in the city of Pemba, Radio Mozambique reports.<\/p>\n

A statement from the Presidency of the Republic received by Radio Mozambique indicates that the two heads of state will in Pemba on Monday officially launch the SADC Mission in Mozambique [SAMIM], a contingent which integrates defence and security forces from South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Lesotho and Tanzania, active in the areas of land, naval, aerial, intelligence and logistics operations, among others.<\/p>\n

The presidency document says this effectively materialises the decisions of the SADC Extraordinary Summit held in Maputo on 23 June 2021, and signals SAMIM\u2019s full readiness for deployment in the Northern Operational Theatre in support of Mozambique in combating the terrorism and violent extremism plaguing some districts of Cabo Delgado province, to the detriment of the country and region.<\/p>\n

The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Defence and Security Forces (FDS), Filipe Nyusi, has been working in Cabo Delgado since Saturday, visiting various defence force positions, evaluating moral, and assessing FDS operations and logistics in order to ensure their readiness for the mission of defending the motherland and sovereignty.<\/p>\n

The Mozambican army, in coordination with Rwandan forces, has already registered significant advances in the occupation of major terrorist bases, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy and allowing the resumption of normal life in what were once considered high risk areas.<\/p>\n

Um comunicado da Presid\u00eancia da Rep\u00fablica recebido na nossa redac\u00e7\u00e3o, indica que os dois estadistas ir\u00e3o proceder, esta segunda-feira, na cidade de Pemba, ao Lan\u00e7amento oficial da For\u00e7a em Estado de Alerta da SADC, contingente que integra as For\u00e7as de Defesa e Seguran\u00e7a da \u00c1frica do Sul, Botswana, Angola, Lesotho e Tanz\u00e2nia, nas especialidades de for\u00e7as terrestres, navais, a\u00e9reas, intelig\u00eancia, log\u00edstica, entre outros.<\/b><\/p>\n

Segundo o documento, o acto ir\u00e1 constituir o ponto mais alto da materializa\u00e7\u00e3o das decis\u00f5es da Cimeira Extraordin\u00e1ria da SADC realizada em Maputo, a 23 de Junho de 2021, e assinala a plena prontid\u00e3o para o desdobramento no Teatro Operacional Norte, no sentido de apoiar Mo\u00e7ambique no combate ao terrorismo e extremismo violento que assola alguns distritos da prov\u00edncia de Cabo Delgado, com impacto no pa\u00eds e na regi\u00e3o.<\/b><\/p>\n

O Presidente da Rep\u00fablica, e Comandante-Chefe das For\u00e7as de Defesa e Seguran\u00e7a (FDS), Filipe Nyusi, trabalha desde o \u00faltimo s\u00e1bado na prov\u00edncia de Cabo Delgado em diversas posi\u00e7\u00f5es das FDS, onde para al\u00e9m de aferir a moral, inteira-se das condi\u00e7\u00f5es operativas e log\u00edsticas das FDS, de modo a garantir a sua prontid\u00e3o para a miss\u00e3o da defesa da p\u00e1tria e da soberania.<\/b><\/p>\n
