Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Mesquita, has instructed the concessionaire of National Highway Number Four (N4) and the National Roads Administration (ANE), to conclude, respectively, the rehabilitation of the Novare section to the Tchumene Junction (10km) and of National Highway Number Two (N2) in Maputo province, by September.<\/p>\n

The guidance was given during a visit that the official recently made to the two locations, where he expressed concern about the delays resulting from the recently ended rainy season, and where the new schedule was presented by the executors of the works.<\/p>\n

Carlos Mesquita called the Novare section to the Tchumene Junction a critical point, as it conditions the flow of traffic throughout the day, but especially in the morning and afternoon. However, he believes that the situation will improve with the conclusion of the works.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe traffic on this section is quite disturbing for those who frequently use the road, which is part of the main logistical and development corridor, but, from what we could find out from the contractor, we will be able to have this work completed by September,\u201d the official said with reference to the Novare-Tchumene Junction section.<\/p>\n

In another development, Carlos Mesquita underlined that the contract of the N4 concessionaire, Trans African Concessions (TRAC), ends within four years, but that it must before then rehabilitate the road before expressing any interest renewing the agreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn some sections between Moamba and Ressano Garcia, I already see some signs of wear and tear, and it is necessary to comply with what is stipulated in the contract, which provides for the complete rehabilitation of the road, three or four years before the end of the contract,\u201d Carlos Mesquita concluded.<\/p>\n

The minister also visited the emergency works on the N2 Movene-Impaputo section (15km), and the ongoing works on the N3 on the bridge over the Nkalatchane river in Goba, Boane district, Maputo province, which was damaged by rains.<\/p>\n
