Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, led a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the creation of the National Parks of Banhine and Zinave this Monday (26-06).<\/p>\n

At the event in the Zinave National Park, the head of state inaugurated a monument to Conservation Heroes telling the story of the creation of the park, its heroes, and celebrating its tourist potential.<\/p>\n

The Banhine and Zinave National Parks were created in 1973 through Legislative Diplomas No. 46\/73 of June 26th and No. 47\/73 of June 26th, respectively.<\/p>\n

Zinave National Park is the only one in the country boasting all of the \u201cBig Five\u201d (elephant, rhinoceros, lion, buffalo, leopard), and has since 2016 been co-managed by the National Administration of Areas of Conservation (ANAC) and the Peace Parks Foundation (PPF).<\/p>\n

Banhine National Park, with an area of 725,600 hectares, is located in the western part of Gaza province, covering the districts of Chigubo, Mabalane and Mapai. The Zinave National Park, with an area of 370,000 hectares, is located in the eastern part of the provinces of Inhambane and Gaza.<\/p>\n
