Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique received congratulations from several heads of government on the 48th anniversary of national independence, highlighting the strengthening of cooperation as a priority, a statement released by the Presidency of Mozambique on Thursday indicates<\/p>\n

\u201cI am sure that we will ensure, with joint efforts, a greater consolidation of constructive Russian-Mozambican cooperation in various areas,\u201d declared Vladimir Putin, Russian president, quoted in the note sent to the press.<\/p>\n

The head of state of India, Draupadi Murnu, highlighted the \u201cwarm and cordial relations\u201d with Mozambique, noting that the two countries have developed a \u201crich tradition of cooperation\u201d bilaterally and multilaterally, which she intends to strengthen in the coming years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndia attaches great importance to deepening and consolidating relations with Mozambique,\u201d Murmu stressed.<\/p>\n

President of Malta George Vella wants to increase cooperation and solidarity with Mozambique, with a view to contributing to the development and prosperity of the African continent.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Republic of Malta is eager to strengthen relations with the Republic of Mozambique,\u201d Vella said.<\/p>\n

Switzerland highlighted the \u201chigh quality\u201d of relations with Mozambique, expressing the desire to continue the \u201cexcellent cooperation\u201d with the country during their mandates as non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.<\/p>\n

The Mozambican president, Filipe Nyusi, also received congratulations from his counterparts in the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, from Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, and in the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, who also wished prosperity to the Mozambican people and government.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo your country [I wish] much progress and prosperity and that our bilateral relations, of which we are proud, witness more progress and development,\u201d declared the President of the State of Palestine.<\/p>\n

In addition to the presidents, Filipe Nyusi also received congratulations from the director general of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Qu Dongyu, who extended wishes of \u201cpeace and prosperity\u201d to the Mozambican people.<\/p>\n

Mozambique on Monday celebrated 48 years since the proclamation of independence in 1975 by then President Samora Machel, after an armed liberation struggle against the Portuguese colonial regime that began in 1964.<\/p>\n
