Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s first Environmental Interpretation Centre was inaugurated by President Nyusi in Maputo yesterday.<\/p>\n

The building, previously occupied by the former Ministry for the Coordination of Environmental Action ( MICOA), was refurbished at an estimated cost of 30 million meticais (US$470,000).<\/p>\n

The seven-room centre is the country\u2019s first, and aims to promote nature conservation. It is now open to visitors from 8 am to 3h30 p, Acordos de Lusaka Avenue number2115,<\/p>\n

The head of state, accompanied by the Minister of Land and Environment, Ivete Maibasse and her entourage, took a guided tour of the centre.<\/p>\n

The Environmental Interpretation Centre portrays the challenges in the environment sector and tells stories that exemplify the battle to preserve the environment, with the aim of making people aware of its importance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a room with a video exhibition about conservation areas. For those who have never been to Gorongosa or Ximanimane, for example, it is possible, through them, to interact with animals and understand what they are and how they develop,\u201d explained Emi\u0301lia Fumo, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Land and Environment.<\/p>\n

After the inauguration, Filipe Nyusi interacted with the centre\u2019s young visitors, calling on them to help preserve the facility itself.<\/p>\n
