Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>A factory to produce cooking oil, coconut water, coconut fibre and copra, with the capacity to process 20,000 coconuts a day, is being set up in Zambezia province.<\/p>\n

The project is estimated to be worth approximately US$4.8 million, and will be installed over an area of 50,000 square metres in the village of Guruai, Mocubela district, in the north of the province.<\/p>\n

The funds for the construction of the factory come from East Agro, a subsidiary of Tazetta Resources, a Russian mining firm, which also operates in the heavy sands sector in the district of Pebane.<\/p>\n

The Governor of Zambezia, Pio de Matos, participated in the project ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday (29-06). Power supply will be implemented by the Tazetta company within the scope of its social responsibility agenda.<\/p>\n

According to AIM, a project to build a medium voltage power line valued at 22 million meticais (US$313,880) was launched on the same occasion. The power line will traverse the communities of Namete and Gurai benefiting more than 24,000 people in the two villages, and is scheduled to come into operation in three months.<\/p>\n

The coconut processing complex will employ around 500 permanent and 4,000 seasonal workers.<\/p>\n
