Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Herds of elephants and buffaloes from the Gorongosa National Park are again sparking panic in Nhamatanda district, Sofala province, devastating crops in Lamego, Metuchira and Bebedo.<\/p>\n

The total area of crops devastated by wild animals has yet to be determined, but it is known that almost 15,000 families are affected, says Nhamatanda administrator Ada\u0303o Ossumane.<\/p>\n

Quoted by Radio Mozambique, Ossumane explained that this week\u2019s incidents came at a time when human-wildlife conflict in the district was actually on the decrease.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in the communities located near the conservation area, the local government and the Gorongosa National Park have set up committees tasked with scaring away the animals.<\/p>\n
