Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The EUTM MOZ Command Group provided an overview on EUTM MOZ\u2019 roles, capabilities, mission, current activities and the main ongoing projects within the Headquarters and the three training camps located in Katembe, Chimoio and Mavalane.<\/p>\n

The visit was useful opportunity to describe the committee how EUTM MOZ is contributing to the capability building of the Mozambican armed forces\u2019 units, selected to compose future Quick Reaction Forces (QRF).<\/p>\n

The UK Foreign Affairs Select Committee also had the opportunity to observe some of the training activities and experiencing the camp\u2019s atmosphere.<\/p>\n

The UK Foreign Affairs Select Committee is one of many select committees of the British House of Commons, which scrutinises the expenditure, administration and policy of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.<\/p>\n

The EUTM MOZ has 118 military and civilian personnel from 12 European Union member states \u2013 Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Sweden.<\/p>\n

The EUTM MOZ mission is to provide training and support to the Mozambican armed forces to protect the civilian population and restore security in the Cabo Delgado province. The mission has a non-executive mandate and will end two years after the mission has reached Full Operational Capability. The EUTM MOZ is one of the tools to address the crisis in Cabo Delgado, in conjunction with support for peacebuilding, conflict prevention and dialogue support, humanitarian assistance and development cooperation.<\/p>\n
