Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>ExxonMobil Moc\u0327ambique, Limitada in partnership with the Center for Gender Coordination (CECAGE) at Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) delivered full undergraduate scholarships to six girls to attend STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related undergraduate courses at the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo.<\/p>\n

The program, implemented by CECAGE, the gender wing of the university, encompasses training for university entrance exams to increase the likelihood of admission for girls in technical fields. To date, ExxonMobil has provided training to 300 girls of which 42 have been admitted to UEM and 18 into other institutions of higher education.<\/p>\n

The six scholarships will be destined for the undergraduate courses of Architecture and Urban Planning; Information Engineering; Industrial Chemistry; Ecology and Terrestrial Biodiversity Conservation; and Oceanography and Mathematics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese women represent the future of Mozambique \u2013 a future with astonishing potential. Hard work, determination, and overcoming obstacles is what has brought these candidates to this point and what will help turn them into the leaders of the future. As a result of the ongoing partnership, the program will reach a further 300 girls in 2023 under the new agreement reached with CECAGE.<\/p>\n

Manuel Guilherme Ju\u0301nior, the Dean of UEM shared that, \u201cthe support provided by ExxonMobil over the last three years has contributed to the increase of girls being admitted into STEM related courses and for that we appreciate the generous gesture of supporting the academic qualifications of girls with the scholarships.\u201d<\/p>\n
