Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Council of Ministers on Tuesday (01-08) approved four more tolls on sections of road in Maputo, Sofala and Nampula provinces under the Self-Sustained Road Maintenance Programme.<\/p>\n

The new tolls join seven others that have been operating since June 2022 and which, so far, have generated around one billion meticais in revenues for the National Road Fund.<\/p>\n

The first toll will be installed on National Highway No. 1 in Manhic\u0327a district, just over 80 km from Maputo city, and will be the second to be built on the Maputo-Xai-Xai section, a stretch of just over 198 km.<\/p>\n

The second toll will be implemented on National Highway No. 280, in Guara-Guara, Bu\u0301zi district, Sofala province, on the Tica-Bu\u0301zi-Nova Sofala section, a stretch of approximately 100 km.<\/p>\n

The third toll will be installed on National Highway No. 1, in Namialo, Meconta district, Nampula province of Nampula, a section of nearly 95.5 km.<\/p>\n

The fourth of the new tolls will be installed on National Highway No. 12 in Monapo district, Nampula province, a stretch of 102 km.<\/p>\n

Notably, the two tolls to be installed in the province of Nampula are in the corridor that connects the cities of Nampula and Nacala-Porto.<\/p>\n

In the same session, the government endorsed a decree approving the toll rates to be applied at the new toll stations.<\/p>\n

The Council of Ministers also approved a decree which, pursuant to the Foreign Exchange Law No. 28\/2022 of December 29, establishes the rules and procedures for the payment of fees for foreign exchange operations and partial foreign exchange trading.<\/p>\n

A communique\u0301 from the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers also mentions that, in the last session, the executive approved the decree that creates the Zumbo Community Conservation Area in Zumbo district, Tete province, with the aim of protecting, conserving and sustainably exploiting of natural resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe creation of this area aims to guarantee the sustainable exploitation of natural resources by local communities and ensure sustainable and integrated management and encourage activities that benefit and promote economic development and growth, based on nature,\u201d the document reads.<\/p>\n

In addition to these decisions, the executive also approved the resolution approving the National Strategy for Volunteering (ENAV), an operational instrument for economic and social development that defines priorities and guidelines and intervention in the field of volunteering in Mozambique, to be implemented through a five-year action plan with specific targets.<\/p>\n
