Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Assembly of the Republic this Monday approved definitively and by consensus a revision of the Labour Law which introduces teleworking and increases maternity leave to 90 days.<\/p>\n

The revision approved today in the specialty, which follows approval in general last Thursday, provides for alternative work schedules and defends working hours in the mining and oil sectors different from those of the general regime, given \u201cthe practical impossibility of travelling to work and returning to the workers\u2019 usual home, after a daily activity\u201d.<\/p>\n

The law approved by consensus of the three parties with parliamentary representation (Frelimo, Renamo and MDM) also advocates adapting labour relations to emergencies caused by cyclones, pandemics, floods and oil spills.<\/p>\n

These events are now included in a new regime on the suspension of the employment contract for reasons of force majeure and unforeseeable circumstances.<\/p>\n

Another innovation can be seen in the authorization of recruitment agencies to hire foreign workers and the introduction of the micro-employer figure.<\/p>\n

The proposal also introduces multi-employment, a modality that gives workers the possibility of being at the service of several employers, where compatible.<\/p>\n

The new Labour Law also transfers to the following Monday the enjoyment of a holiday that falls on a Sunday, which will from the moment it is in force waive the authorization in order of the Minister of Labour.<\/p>\n

A five-day leave is also given to the unmarried partner in a de facto union, in the event of the death of the partner\u2019s parent, sibling or offspring.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Margarida Talapa, said that the revision of the labour law would result in \u201can increase in production and productivity, contributing to the generation of income and competitiveness of the economy, with a positive impact on the sustainable development of the country\u201d.<\/p>\n
