Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>India was the country that bought the most from Mozambique in the first quarter, but the list of the main destinations for Mozambican exports, such as coal and gas, also includes, in addition to South Africa, the United Kingdom and Croatia.<\/p>\n

A statistical report by the Bank of Mozambique on the balance of payments from January to March, consulted by Lusa on Friday, details that 17% of all Mozambican exports, equivalent to US$288.8 million (\u20ac262 million), went to India, namely coal, cashew nuts and vegetables.<\/p>\n

South Africa followed, with 15.1%, or $256.6 million (\u20ac232.8 million), \u201cas the main consumer of natural gas\u201d, in addition to importing electricity, coal, bananas and wigs.<\/p>\n

The United Kingdom, with 8.1%, which yielded revenues of US$137.4 million (\u20ac124.6 million), essentially in the purchase of raw aluminium, natural gas and aluminium wires, and then Croatia, with 6.9% of the total and US$117.5 million (\u20ac106.6 million) of purchases of natural gas, coal and tobacco.<\/p>\n

The list closes with China, which bought 6.5% of total Mozambican exports, $110.2 million (\u20ac100 million) mainly heavy sands, natural sands, graphite, oil seeds and fruits, and Italy, with 4.9% and revenues of $83.9 million (\u20ac76.1 million) with aluminium, natural gas, heavy sands, cane sugar and beet.<\/p>\n

These six countries alone accounted for almost $1 billion (\u20ac907 million) in Mozambique\u2019s exports in the first quarter of 2023, which totalled $1.699 billion (\u20ac1.542 billion) overall in that period.<\/p>\n
