Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The 14th edition of Kugoma, the oldest cinema forum in Mozambique opens this Thursday in Maputo. Kugoma will take place from 31 August to 6 September, in an event organised by the Association of Friends of the Cinema Museum in Mozambique,<\/p>\n

The Official Opening Session takes place this Thursday, August 31st, at 7pm, in the large room of the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center with the national premiere of the Angolan feature film \u2018Our Lady of the Chinese Shop\u2019, by Ery Claver , with the presence of the director and real-time sign language translation , followed by a cocktail.<\/p>\n

The film is preceded by the usual cine-concert, this year with W\u0142adys\u0142aw Starewicz \u2018s iconic animated short film \u2018The Cameraman\u2019s Revenge\u2019\u201d (1912), with musical direction by Euclides Anatolly, performed live.<\/p>\n

The program, always dedicated to African cinema, this year offers dozens of national premieres, including the Kugoma Conversations series, the Kugoma School Sessions and the Pitch Session \u2013 a collaboration with the national content producer Maningue Magic, from Multichoice, \u2013 and, once again awards the New Authors Prize, for Mozambique and the PALOP, in collaboration with the PALOP-TL Cinema and Audiovisual Network and with the support of Panavido Moc\u0327ambique.<\/p>\n

Kugoma\u2019s 2023 program includes Itinerancy Sessions FESTin \u2013 Itinerant Portuguese-Language Film Festival (Portugal), partnerships with the Kanemo Cineclube and ICine \u2013 Fo\u0301rum de Cinema do Interior Paulista, from Brazil, with the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (France ) and with the Mozambican-German Cultural Centre\u2019s Short Film Competition.<\/p>\n

The program features more than three dozen short films, documentaries, fiction and animation, from Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, Brazil, Portugal, Uganda, and co-productions with Somalia, Ghana, Senegal and Egypt, shown in a complete program in the auditorium of the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center and the terrace of the Cine-Teatro Scala.<\/p>\n

This year, we highlight the special program Maningue Magic, which includes, in addition to the Pitch Session, two conversations with the producers, directors and actors of the popular Mozambican telenovela \u201cMaida\u201d and the series \u201cA Infiltrada\u201d, \u201cA Influencer\u201d and \u201c Kuga Munu\u201d, which mark a new and historic stage in Mozambique\u2019s l audiovisual production.<\/p>\n

Other conversations are scheduled with Nildo Essa\u0301, with a look at \u201cBehind the production of KIBWE\u201d; Madiano Marcheti, on \u201cScript Development\u201d; Inadelso Cossa, on \u201cAfrican cinema at international festivals\u201d and Ery Claver, special guest of this edition, on the \u201cRelationship between Director and Assistant\u201d.<\/p>\n

Finally, on September 6th, \u2013 as this is an event organized by the Association of Friends of the Cinema Museum in Mozambique, \u2013 Kugoma will announce the winners and award the prizes of an Architectural Competition for students of the Faculdade de Arquitectura e Planeamento Fi\u0301sico to propose designs for the future headquarters of the Cinema Museum, a partnership of the Associac\u0327a\u0303o dos Amigos do Cinema de Moc\u0327ambique with the FAPF and the School of Communication and Arts (ECA), at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane \u2013 UEM.<\/p>\n
