Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>A new shipping line, ONE \u2013 Ocean Network Express, represented in Mozambique by Manica Freight Services, as agent, began operating this Thursday, 31 August, at the Port of Beira, which in October will be 25 years under the management of Cornelder de Moc\u0327ambique (CdM). The first ship, the Penang Bridge, docked at around 4.45pm and was greeted with a festive welcome.<\/p>\n

The ONE \u2013 Ocean Network Express shipping line has a space-sharing agreement with another line, UNIFEEDER, which means that in addition to its own containers, it also brings containers from the UNIFEEDER line to the Port of Beira.<\/p>\n

ONE will connect the Port of Beira to Maputo\/Mombasa\/India\/Middle East, and will initially operate fortnightly.<\/p>\n

The Operations Director of Cornelder Mozambique, Miguel de Jenga, said that the entry of the new shipping line will bring diversity of choice for importers and exporters in the Beira corridor. \u201cThis will offer more alternatives for the Beira corridor, covering the centre of Mozambique and the hinterland countries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that the economic gains will be \u201ccompetitiveness between the shipping lines\u201d, which will be reflected in the costs for \u201cexporters and importers\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Director of Manica Freight Services in Beira, agent for the ONE Line, Ahmad Ali Haffejee, said he was pleased that ONE \u2013 Ocean Network Express, which already worked with the Port of Maputo, would now also operate with the Port of Beira. He said that initially, this shipping line will dock at the Port of Beira every fortnight and believes that it will handle a lot of cargo from this port.<\/p>\n

\u201cCdM is making major investments in the Port of Beira. This pleases us and benefits us all,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n

ONE \u2013 Ocean Network Express will be the sixth shipping line to operate in the Port of Beira. Cornelder de Moc\u0327ambique has already been working with MSC, PIL, MAERSK, CMA-CGM and Gold Star Line (GSL), the latter of which began operating on 28 April.<\/p>\n
