Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Government of Brazil will donate 15,000 doses of human anti-rabies vaccine to Mozambique, to be used for immunisation against rabies, the Ministry of Health announced in a statement this Monday.<\/p>\n

The donation results from a request made by the Ministry and aims to \u201cmeet the demand for the vaccine in health units and medical examination centres where it is administered to all patients who are victims of animal bites\u201d, the document reads.<\/p>\n

The vaccine delivery ceremony will be led by the Mozambican Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago, and will be attended by the Brazilian ambassador to Mozambique and the country representative of the World Health Organization (WHO).<\/p>\n

In the first half of 2019, at least 16 people died from canine rabies, out of a total of 18,835 victims of dog bites, according to the latest data published by the Mozambican Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n

According to official figures, there are estimated to be around 2.8 million dogs in Mozambique.<\/p>\n
