Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, stated today that the entry of the African Union (AU) into the G20 will be \u201ctransformative\u201d for a continent that is \u201cat the forefront of addressing global issues\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cMozambique very much welcomes the decision to accept the AU as a full member of the G20. Africa is in the frontline of addressing global issues, including those relating to climate change, food security and reforms of international financial institutions,\u201d wrote Filipe Nyusi in a message on his official Facebook account.<\/p>\n

For the head of state, \u201cit is essential that Africa has a full voice in decision-making on global issues\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the second youngest population, the continent is about to show greater performance in relation to the rest of the world in terms of economic growth in the next two years, in terms of Gross Domestic Product,\u201d President Nyusi writes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am confident that the AU\u2019s participation will be transformative in terms of the impact of the G20 and the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

At its meeting in New Delhi, India, on Saturday, the G20 decided to include the AU as a permanent member of the bloc, which brings together the 19 largest economies in the world and the European Union.<\/p>\n

As a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Nyusi added, \u201cMozambique is determined to do its part in finding African solutions to African challenges, at national, continental and international levels.\u201d<\/p>\n
