Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Urbanisation projections in Mozambique show that 60% of the population will be living in cities by 2030, according to the Minister of State Administration and Civil Service, Ana Comoane.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Maputo yesterday at the Steering Council Session to prepare the National Urbanization Policy, Minister Comoana explained that there would however always be communication between rural and urban areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe found all these issues safeguarded in this preliminary document that we will continue to debate so that in the end we have a properly harmonised instrument,\u201d Comoane said.<\/p>\n

Minister Comoana highlighted that the national urbanisation policy is an instrument \u201cexpectedly awaited due to its great significance in the projection of cities and controlled urban growth\u201d.<\/p>\n

The minister also noted that this stage follows a series of actions carried out since the diagnosis phase, launched with the holding of two forums, where the general guidelines for carrying out the review of this guiding document were drawn up.<\/p>\n

Ana Comoane also added that, after the conception of the situational diagnosis, field work followed, consisting of extensive consultation with all governance bodies at local level, and also with the public, prior to preparing the preliminary document on what is expected from the policy in question in Mozambique.<\/p>\n
