Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) has admitted that it has not been able to identify the individuals who attempted to kidnap a businessman of Indian nationality on Monday, in central Maputo.<\/p>\n

SERNIC spokesperson Hila\u0301rio Lole told reporters on Thursday that the attempted kidnapping took place at the businessman\u2019s commercial establishment, and it was the second time that he had been targeted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re working with other organisations to be able to shed light on this case, we have information and that\u2019s what we\u2019re working on\u201d, Lole said, adding that SERNIC is doing everything to shed light on the case of this double kidnap attempt, but the whereabouts of the kidnappers are still unknown.<\/p>\n

The kidnap was foiled because passers-by and a police officer responded to the businessman\u2019s cries for help, and the would-be kidnappers fled in their getaway vehicle, abandoning their victim.<\/p>\n

Caustic soda<\/b><\/p>\n

On the occasion, SERNIC also presented two Pakistani citizens accused of being involved in drug trafficking. The detainees deny the charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe individuals were arrested on 8 September in possession of a product, totalling 250 grams, which was submitted to the laboratory and found to be caustic soda, which can be used to produce various types of drugs, including cocaine and heroin,\u201d Lole said.<\/p>\n
