Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Standing Commission of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique has called for the eighth ordinary session of parliament to start on October 19, with around 23 matters scheduled for debate, an official source announced.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe list of matters to be discussed may undergo some change, depending on the circumstances,\u201d commission spokesman Alberto Mutucotuco told the press after a meeting of the body in Maputo.<\/p>\n

The session will run until December 21st and, among the agenda topics, the highlight goes to the annual reports of the Mozambican head of state, Filipe Nyusi, and the ombudsman, Isac Chande.<\/p>\n

According to the source, the proposed laws on the 2024 Economic and Social Plan and the 2024 State Budget are also among the items to be considered in this session.<\/p>\n

In 2024, the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique celebrates 30 years as a multi-party parliament, and some anniversary celebrations will be launched this year, Mutocotuco added.<\/p>\n

The Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique is dominated by the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (Frelimo), the party in power, with a qualified majority of 184 of the 250 deputies, followed by the Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo) with 60 seats and the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) with six deputies.<\/p>\n
