Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s national football team, the Mambas, has risen four places in the FIFA rankings, going from 117th position to 113th with 1,179.03 points, according to an update released by the organisation that manages the sport internationally this Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Mambas 3-2 victory over Benin and consequent qualification for the African Cup of Nations, after 13 years out of the tournament, was decisive in their gaining ground in the log.<\/p>\n

Among Portuguese-speaking African countries, Cape Verde continues to be the best positioned, occupying 71st place. But it was Guinea Bissau that made the biggest rise, jumping six positions to 106th place with 1,167.7 points.<\/p>\n

Angola is in 117th position with 1,167.7 points, while Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Principe is ranked 188th with 893.69 points.<\/p>\n

Current world champion Argentina strengthened its position at the top of the FIFA world rankings, now with 1,851.41 points.<\/p>\n

The Argentines remain in the lead after beating Ecuador and Bolivia in the qualifying phase for the 2026 World Cup.<\/p>\n

France, which lost in a friendly game to Germany, remains in second place with 1,840.76 points, followed by Brazil, ranked third with 1,837.61 points.<\/p>\n

In turn, England is in fourth place with 1,792.64 points. Belgium (1,792.64), Croatia (1,747.83) and the Netherlands (1,743.15) occupy the fifth, sixth and seventh positions respectively. The only change in the top 10 was Portugal\u2019s rise to ninth place, swapping places with Italy.<\/p>\n

The six consecutive victories of the Portuguese team in the qualifying phase for Euro 2024 earned Portugal an increase in position. The Portuguese are the sixth-best European team, ahead of historical teams such as Italy, Spain and Germany, the latter which is in an unthinkable 15th position.<\/p>\n
