Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>A graphite mine, in Muichi region, Nipepe district, in the northern Mozambican province of Niassa, will come into operation as of 2024 since the processing plant is now 80 per cent complete.<\/p>\n

The confirmation was made by the director of Niassa\u2019s Infrastructures Services, Ame\u0301rico Chivale, cited by the Beira daily \u201cDia\u0301rio de Moc\u0327ambique.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018The work is being carried out in order to speed up operation\u2019, he said.<\/p>\n

The confirmed reserves of graphite, in that province, are estimated at 50 million tonnes and the mine will be operated by the Chinese company DH Mining Development Limited, which intends to invest 30 million dollars for production operations.<\/p>\n

The Chinese company hopes to produce 400 tonnes of graphite per day. Such graphite, according to recent research, has enough quality to be applied in the car industry and in the production of electrical equipment.<\/p>\n

In order to avoid problems during mining, the company intends to build a bridge over the Lu\u0301rio River, to connect the mine to the port of Nacala in the neighbouring province of Nampula.<\/p>\n

The Muichi factory complex, according to the director, will employ thousands of workers \u201cbut 800 of them will be linked to graphite production.\u201d<\/p>\n
