CMS announces that Couto, Grac\u0327a e Associados Limitada (CGA), based in Mozambique, joined CMS in November 2022. The Mozambican firm will be known as \u201cCouto, Grac\u0327a e Associados, lda \u2013 member of CMS.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the addition of CGA, CMS continues to strengthen its presence in Africa. Its footprint already extends into Angola, Morocco, South Africa, and Kenya, with further growth across the continent remaining a strategic priority. As of today, CMS has offices in 44 countries and 74 cities and employs more than 5,800 lawyers.<\/p>\n

Duncan Weston, Executive Partner at CMS, said, \u201cExpanding our presence in Africa remains a business imperative for CMS. Many of CMS\u2019s clients have multiple in-country operations in Africa and we are committed to ensuring they get the legal services they need to protect and develop their businesses. CGA has a reputation for outstanding service quality and extensive local market knowledge. This knowledge, combined with CMS\u2019s expertise, will help us build a practice with a truly African identity.\u201d<\/p>\n

CGA has an established presence in the African business and legal community and is the largest firm in Mozambique. CMS and CGA share strong synergies in the areas of natural resources and renewables, with other areas such as commercial law, dispute resolution and litigation also providing opportunities for cross-border advisory and transaction work for both firms. Furthermore, joining CMS will allow CGA to strengthen its international profile with the support of CMS\u2019s global client base.<\/p>\n
