Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Thirty-two bays in 17 countries, including Mozambique, have been participating since this Friday in the 17th Congress of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World in Yeosu, South Korea.<\/p>\n

Mozambique is represented by Pemba Bay, the third largest bay in the world and the largest in Africa.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the event, the president of the association of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World, Louis The\u0301bault, quoted by Radio Mozambique, highlighted ocean pollution as one of major challenges the association faces, and called for universal involvement in combating anything that disturbs the balance of nature.<\/p>\n

Representing the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of South Korea, Deputy Minister Song Myung said the event represented an opportunity to share actions aimed at protecting and conserving the coastal environment.<\/p>\n

Representatives say they hope the congress would strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation and allow better execution of objectives.<\/p>\n

The Association of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World includes, along with Pemba, 43 other bays in Africa, Asia, Europe and North and South America.<\/p>\n

Pemba secured Mozambique\u2019s admission to the club in 2009, at the congress in Setu\u0301bal, Portugal, having submitted its application two years earlier at Praia do Rosa, Santa Catarina, Brazil.<\/p>\n

The World\u2019s Most Beautiful Bays Club is supported by UNESCO, and based in Vannes, France.<\/p>\n
