Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Two hundred and thirty-seven people have been arrested for involvement in acts of violence during demonstrations against the results of the local elections announced by the bodies managing the vote in Mozambique, Noticias reports.<\/p>\n

Minister of the Interior Pascoal Ronda reported in parliament this morning that 149 arrests took place in Nampula, 33 in Zambe\u0301zia, 23 in Maputo, 16 in Niassa, 11 in Sofala and five in Tete.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the government information session, Ronda added that 130 demonstrations were recorded throughout the country, of which 25 were violent, spread across the provinces of Nampula (9 cases), Zambe\u0301zia (6), Maputo city (6), Cabo Delgado, Niassa, Tete and Sofala (1 in each).<\/p>\n

In relation to these cases, 33 criminal proceedings were opened.<\/p>\n
