Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique and Saudi Arabia intend to strengthen cooperation in the sectors of economy, culture and humanitarian assistance, according to the Deputy Foreign Minister, Manuel Gonc\u0327alves.<\/p>\n

According to the Deputy Minister \u2013 speaking on Thursday in the context of the Saudi Arabia-Africa summit, due to take place on Friday, in Riyadh \u2013 the two countries also intend to cooperate in the military sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is expected that, at the end of this summit, a declaration will be issued focused on the first area, which is politics, security and the military. Above all, we will see how we can strengthen the fight against terrorism and violent extremism and other areas of cooperation linked to this specific sector, such as the fight against piracy\u201d, Gonc\u0327alves said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe second area is economic, trade and investment, especially to strengthen cooperation between Saudi Arabia and African countries in mining, energy and investment\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Gonc\u0327alves also explained that the third area in which the country intends to deepen cooperation is cultural and education, and the fourth has to do with humanitarian assistance, \u201cas Saudi Arabia has been providing humanitarian assistance to African countries facing challenges such as natural disasters and violent extremism.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahead of the summit, a preparatory meeting of the ministers of economy and finance of the invited African countries is being held in Riyadh.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have exchanged visits at a political level. President Filipe Nyusi visited Saudi Arabia in March 2023 and, at that time, some areas of cooperation were identified, such as infrastructure and investment\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

The summit \u2013 which is considered as historic in terms of cooperation between Africa and Saudi Arabia \u2013counts on the participation of over 50 heads of state and government.<\/p>\n
