Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Frelimo, the party in power in Mozambique, has reactivated the red wave sweeping the country, this time with a view to victory in the 2024 general elections.<\/p>\n

The Frelimo partyon Saturday launched its \u201cMovement to Prepare for a Frelimo Victory in the 2024 Elections\u201d (Movimento de Preparac\u0327a\u0303o da Vito\u0301ria da Frelimo para as Eleic\u0327o\u0303es de 2024) in all provinces.<\/p>\n

In Macaneta, Maputo province, Frelimo first secretary Avelino Muchine appealed to parents not to let their children join the marches promoted by Renamo in protest against the results of the October 11th local elections, which gave victory to the party in 64 of the country\u2019s 65 municipalities.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t let yourself be carried away by those who are out there demonstrating every day. We need to reinforce our vigilance; we have to keep our children at home and prevent them from following these movements,\u201d Muchine appealed, quoted by RFI.<\/p>\n

These movements, Muchine said, would not produce positive results. \u201cWhen it threatens lives, when people are threatened, there is a negative result. Therefore, we will not let ourselves be carried away by those results. Let\u2019s talk to our children to prevent them from joining those movements,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Muchine denied that the government party was in crisis, as a letter by several Frelimo members has claimed. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t seem to me that based on someone\u2019s statement we can conclude that there is a crisis in Frelimo, no, I don\u2019t I think there is a crisis in Frelimo. There are issues to discuss, yes, there are issues to discuss,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, this Sunday, Renamo called a halt to its protest marches contesting the results of the sixth round of local elections on 11 October.<\/p>\n
