Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Centre for Public Integrity (CIP) on Wednesday (8-11) submitted to the Constitutional Council its own electoral observation report and parallel count of the October 11th municipal elections.<\/p>\n

The document details irregularities discovered on the ground, from the voter registration process to the general count. Data from the parallel count carried out by the CIP and copies of the \u2018editais\u2019 (notices) were also sent to the CC.<\/p>\n

The CIP states in the document that the results of the local elections, in certain municipalities (Maputo, Matola, Quelimane, Nampula and Chiu\u0301re) do not reflect the will of the voters, and that the actions of the electoral bodies negatively influenced the electoral process, potentially worsening the reputation of these bodies and reducing voter participation in the next elections.<\/p>\n

The CIP therefore recommends that the Constitutional Council firstly verify the data presented by the CIP, referring to the PVT (parallel count), comparing the data from the CNE and the data sent by the CIP, so that the disparity in votes obtained by the political parties can be clarified; and secondly investigate reported electoral irregularities and offences and how they affected the electoral process as a whole.<\/p>\n
