Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The winners of the third Mozal Arts and Culture Awards competition include Lui\u0301s Santos, for Visual Arts; Carlos Noronha, Cinema and Audio-Visuals; Eli\u0301sio Nguenha, Photography; Mai Ju\u0301li Machado, Dance; Rita Couto, Theatre; Amirah Adam, Fashion Design and Clothing, and Case Buyakah, Music.<\/p>\n

In a return to one of the most important events that recognize and honour contemporary artistic and cultural production in Mozambique, the night of November 3rd, at the Centro Cultural Moc\u0327ambique, will remain forever in the memory of all nominees who participated in this year\u2019s edition of the Mozal Arts and Culture Awards.<\/p>\n

Roge\u0301rio Manjate, President of the Jury, said that the Mozal Arts and Culture Awards remained loyal to the purpose of encouraging and promoting emerging creators in different areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this edition of the Mozal Arts and Culture Awards, the country\u2019s cultural dynamics proved to be rich and diverse, revealing creativity and moving young people,\u201d the jury president said. \u201cSome of these young people are just starting out in the industry, and others have already achieved international recognition. The members of the jury are proud to participate in the Mozal Arts and Culture Awards.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rita Couto, winner in the theatre category, dedicates her award \u201cto all those involved in theatre and the arts in general. This recognition represents an incentive for all young people to be able to document their work\u201d.<\/p>\n

Carlos Noronha, who won the trophy for Cinema and Audiovisuals, says that, \u201cIt is a victory for all artists and creators in the audio-visual area because I do not work alone: cinema is a joint art and encompasses all seven arts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, the Executive Director of Kulungwana, Hanny Matos, said that, \u201cWe believe that these awards serve to motivate all young artists to believe in themselves and their work and project human development and what most represents the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ivan Bone, national director of Cultural and Creative Industries, stated that, \u201cAs a government we cannot fail to continue to have partners like Mozal and Kulungwana, interlocutors who will make possible the dream of makers of living off their works.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mozal Arts and Culture Awards are supported by Mozal as part of the company\u2019s social responsibility programme.<\/p>\n

\u201cMozal believes in arts and culture in its various forms, as the main elements of our social identity. That\u2019s why we develop specific actions for the sector. These Awards aim to recognize and promote artists,\u201d said Gil Cumaio, director of External Affairs at Mozal.<\/p>\n

Nineteen competitors were nominated in the current edition of the Mozal Arts and Cultural Awards. Winners in the seven different categories received a statuette, a certificate of participation and a monetary prize worth 120,000 meticais.<\/p>\n
