Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The National Communications Institute of Mozambique (INCM) wants telecommunications operators to ensure \u201cminimum communications services\u201d in the event of an emergency, specifically to guarantee government communications.<\/p>\n

\u201cTelecommunications operators must be equipped with emergency communications systems that ensure minimum communications services in cases of force majeure, in the south, centre and north, to ensure Government communications in emergencies, fortuitous cases or force majeure,\u201d lays down the INCM resolution dated October 23 to which Lusa had access on Tuesday (07-11).<\/p>\n

The INCM resolution recognizes the \u201cneed to avoid the total unavailability of the network in emergency situations, fortuitous cases or force majeure that may hinder the Government\u2019s action in managing extreme events\u201d, in order to \u201censure a minimum of communications in provincial capitals\u201d.<\/p>\n

The regulator defines that emergency communications systems \u201cmust be equipped with alternative power supply sources\u201d and a transmission system, and stipulates that \u201cthey must be available, for coordination actions, to various entities to be indicated by the government authorities\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cTelecommunications operators must ensure that a certain number of users, whose list will be provided by the INCM, have privileged access to the network,\u201d it further establishes.<\/p>\n

The INCM stipulates that telecommunications operators have 180 days to implement the provisions.<\/p>\n
