Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Conformity Assessment Programme (CAP) is a programme that consists of conformity assessment based on the requirements laid down in technical standards, regulations or technical specifications and is applied to products that are subject to mandatory control in the respective exporting countries in order to ensure their compliance with internationally accepted technical requirements. The control and supervision of imported products are two essential measures to protect the health of consumers, protect the environment and ensure fair competition on the local market.<\/p>\n

The main aim of the CAP is to:<\/p>\n

In 2022, the Government of Mozambique approved Decree No. 8\/2022, of 14 March, which establishes the Conformity Assessment Programme for products imported into Mozambique, in order to ensure compliance with the technical standards and regulations in force in the country. The fees to be applied in the implementation of the PAC were approved by Ministerial Diploma No. 98\/2023, of July 14.<\/p>\n

The PAC is implemented by INNOQ, IP through an authorized entity, INTERTEK, to act on its behalf in exporting countries, which must be contacted to proceed with the evaluation of the products in the country of origin, before their import into Mozambique. INNOQ, IP urges importers to ensure that their suppliers are familiar with the certification requirements and procedures applicable in Mozambique, under the PAC,<\/p>\n

The mandatory conformity assessment begins on November 1, 2023, with the products, which are included in the attached list, also available on the INNOQ, IP website. The Mozambican Standards applicable to mandatory control products must be purchased at INNOQ, IP. The importer of a mandatory control product, which arrives at a point of entry without a certificate of conformity, will incur fines provided for in article 24 of Decree no. 8\/2022, of March 14, under the supervision of the National Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE).<\/p>\n
