Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Eni Rovuma Basin together with Cabo Delgado Government, handed over a community center, 36 solar water pumps and 10 tons of various seeds for food production that will benefit around 5,000 families in the Metuge district. The farmers will now have the opportunity to increase their productivity through the use of improved seeds that will be combined with an effective irrigation process.<\/p>\n

In the same context, ERB also delivered various agricultural and beekeeping equipment, 8 boreholes and 5 improved latrines to the communities of Muaria, Quitivahulo, Sassalane, Muinde, Sambene, Nanguasse, Metacane and Namarapala, all in the district of Mecufi.<\/p>\n

These projects will benefit around 9,000 people who will now have greater access to drinking water and sanitation, which will contribute to reduce the spread of diseases caused by the consumption of inappropriate drinking water.<\/p>\n

These projects are aimed at fostering social cohesion and helping to improve the living conditions and resilience of the communities where we operate by promoting income-generating and sustainability activities, as part of the Coral South FLNG project\u2019s sustainability plan and are being implemented in partnership with Unilu\u0301rio, AVSI and ADPP.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur approach to local development is based on the dual-flag strategy, which underpins the implementation of initiatives aimed at contributing to promoting access to basic needs such as health, education, access to water, sanitation and energy, as well as opportunities for socioeconomic development.\u201d said Marica Calabrese, Managing Director of Eni Rovuma Basin.<\/p>\n

The projects have been developed by Eni Rovuma Basin also on behalf of Area 4 Partners, namely ExxonMobil, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), Kogas and Galp.<\/p>\n

About Eni<\/b><\/p>\n

Eni has been present in Mozambique since 2006. Between 2011 and 2014, the company discovered vast natural gas resources in the Rovuma Basin, in the Coral, Mamba Complex and Agulha reservoirs, with around 2,400 billion cubic meters of gas in place. Eni is the delegated operator of the Coral South project, which was the first to produce gas in Mozambique\u2019s Rovuma Basin.<\/p>\n

About Area 4<\/b><\/p>\n

Area 4 is operated by Mozambique Rovuma Venture S.p.A. (MRV), a joint venture owned by Eni, ExxonMobil and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), which has a 70% stake in the Area 4 Concession and Production Contract. In addition to MRV, the other partners include Galp, KOGAS and ENH, each with a 10% stake.<\/p>\n
