Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Six members of the same family died of food poisoning in Milange district, Zambe\u0301zia province, over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The victims, three of whom were children, presented with vomiting, weakness and difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness and fainting after consuming corn flour porridge and cassava leaves.<\/p>\n

The information was provided in the city of Quelimane on Tuesday by the chief medical officer of Zambe\u0301zia province, Isai\u0301as Marcos, during the XIX ordinary session of the Council of State Representation Services, \u2018Noticias\u2019 reports.<\/p>\n

Marcos said that tests were carried out on other members of the household and samples taken for laboratory analysis, the results of the tests now being awaited.<\/p>\n

Marcos also reported that cases of cholera had been confirmed in the district of Alto Molo\u0301cue\u0300 on the 8th of the month, indicating a spread of the disease since cases were recorded in Gile\u0301, Gurue\u0301 and Mocuba.<\/p>\n

According to Doctor Marcos, the province of Zambe\u0301zia had by Monday confirmed a total of 1,211 cases: 338 in the district of Gile\u0301, 729 in Gurue\u0301, 14 in Alto Molo\u0301cue\u0300 and 130 in Mocuba.<\/p>\n

As ofTuesday, treatment centres in the four districts had 10 patients hospitalised, he added.<\/p>\n
